Hey guys...
Now that Minime is over, I hope all of you have learnt something.
I would post the results up, but...yeah. (I am lazy to type it out)
okay, read through what I have to say and think about it. (whee colourful)
Top 64 fencers: i.e. eliminated after robin
You were seeded in the last 5 of the whole event.
I specifically told all of you NOT to get eliminated before D.E. >:(
Most of you went for Minime with little or no serious attempt during training.
Continue this way and you can forget about competing in the future.
These are the raw facts about most of you, and we all know its true.
I have no intention of doing this to shame or scold you, because I don't want to.
Some of you were just unlucky during poules, despite all the training you put in. :/
Learn from this Minime and don't give up because of this setback.
All of you are sec 1s, so you still have a long journey to go for this CCA.
Believe in yourself and work hard, there is still hope for you. :0
Top 32: Eliminated after 1st D.E.
Good job to all of you for passing Robin and getting to experience D.E. =.=
This is the part where most fencers get eliminated, so don't sweat it too much.
its also when most fencers start gambling due to boredom...
All of you trained hard and were mostly unlucky during the bouts.
Treat this as a learning experience and aim higher in the future.
Top 16: Eliminated after 2 D.E.s
Congrats for pulling through the 1st D.E.
I was stunned that you guys could get that far, but don't slack off. Yip Yang stunt 0.0
Regardless of whether this meets your expectations, you have made the school proud.
Push yourself harder the next time and I'm pretty confident that you will walk out with a medal around your neck. Good job, be proud that you tried your hardest. ^^
Top 8: Eliminated after 3 D.E.s
Both of you fenced better than expected for this competition, so please stop thinking that you fell short of the school/coach/seniors 's expectations. seriously.
In all seriousness, the school did not expect to get medals from this competition due to the large number of participants this year, nor did they put pressure on the seniors to excel.
You showed alot of determination and passion for fencing during the bout, so both of you have already exceeded the expectations of the school.
Stop emo-ing about the bronze or points that you lost; no one ever got into the Top 8 by pure luck alone.
This time was your opponent's chance to win, next time make it yours.
Take all of this as a major learning experience and use it to push yourselves farther in the future..
To quote Mr Ng:
It doesn't matter if you win or lose ; just that you learn from winning/losing.
The school only celebrates medals that are won by demonstrating the values you learn as a BPian, not those that are won because coaches/seniors force you.
All of you have surpassed expectations this competition, so take pride in your acheivement and learn from the mistakes.
Congrats to all fencers, you have done this CCA proud.
